So I did a thing in February and hired a personal trainer. I was going to the gym somewhat frequently but I knew I wasn’t doing all that I needed to, or could do. I needed more help than I could find just searching on the internet and social media. Plus, we have a fun trip planned this summer and I’ll be wearing a bathing suit basically the entire time and wanted to feel my best.
My gyms head trainer said that Ali would probably be the best fit for me so I did a 3 session trial package. After day 1 I knew I would be buying the biggest session package I could (best price per session). She pushed me, but in a kind way. Proved to me that I was stronger and more capable than I thought.
A week into training I decided to have her help me with my macros too which if I hadn’t done I know I wouldn’t have the progress I do today. I highly recommend finding someone to personally set your macros for you. I have done online quizzes in the past and even did them after she gave me mine to see if they were similar and they weren’t close at all. You need someone who will ask you specific questions about yourself and your goals to get the best numbers.
I meet with Ali twice a week (I’m on my second package of sessions) and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. Then I workout 3 more times a week, usually taking Wednesdays and Sundays as active rest days. I follow some fitness accounts on Instagram and save workouts and then try and write down what I do with Ali each time to give me ideas on what to do for my days.
We are almost 7 weeks into workouts and almost 6 weeks into counting macros and I am down almost 9lbs. I wish I would have done measurements in the beginning too but my progress pics show I’m losing inches. Maybe one day I’ll share those pics. And I know that in getting healthy and fit I will probably lose a good bit of my weight the number is just a number. Don’t get me wrong, seeing that number go down is exciting but know that I’ve lost even more in fat and gained muscle, strength, I feel better, look better….that number could stay the same and I’d be ok.
My mindset of food has changed so much as well but I’ll save that for another post. I did a poll on Instagram the other day and so many were wanting to see more about my journey so not only will I post more about it over there I wanted to start a little journal over here as well to talk more about it.
It’s never too late to make changes. Who knew at 41 (well 40 when I started) that I would start this journey and have a lifestyle change. I’m still learning and making changes but I made that first step and committed to doing this.
