I can’t believe it. I hit a huge goal on my health and fitness journey this morning. I lost 20 pounds! 20! 2-0! It seems almost unreal.
I started this part of my journey back in February. Mid February I started with my trainer, strength training twice a week, training on my own 3 days a week, LISS cardio 4 times a week, bumped to 5 soon after. Then a week after I had to help me with my nutrition by calculating my macros.
I attempted macros on my own years ago but didn’t stick with it. Turns out those online calculators tend to under estimate the amount you needed. When she first gave me my numbers I was like ‘there’s no way I’ll lose weight eating that much’. Oh Hayley, lol. I now know differently. You need to fuel your body so it will work for you, not against you. She has made tweaks over the last 2.5 months as she’s seen how my body reacts and how I feel.
“You need to fuel your body so it will work for you, not against you.”
Besides losing the 20 pounds, I’ve gained muscle, strength, and most importantly, confidence. I feel so much better with how I look, I have more energy, sleep better, my cycle has become more regular, almost to the day.
Our family trip this summer, where I’ll be wearing a bathing suit every day and want to feel confident and good, was the catalyst for this to begin but I won’t be stopping after our vacation. I’m sure some things will change, I might change the frequency of training sessions, I might do macros on my own or stop for a while and see how that goes. But as far as staying with my workouts, eating healthy, and eating the right amount of food, that I will be sticking for sure!
